Lou Lam (b. 1986) is a British abstract expressionist painter currently based in Amsterdam. Her textural, multilayered works explore the complexities of human connection through colour, gesture, and depth.

After graduating from Central Saint Martins and Chelsea College of Arts in London, she spent over a decade living and working in Hong Kong—an experience that continues to shape her artistic language.

Her process is both meditative and intuitive, balancing spontaneous mark-making with the slow, deliberate layering of colour. Influenced by Japanese philosophy—particularly Wabi Sabi, Kintsugi, and the concept of Ma—her work reflects a sensitivity to absence and presence, to the spaces between, and to the quiet intervals where meaning emerges.
